Dr. Cartee is a native of Evergreen, a small town in south Alabama. She also has some local Pennsylvania roots since her grandfather was a native of the Cooperstown area.
She received her post secondary education from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and first earned her Bachelors Degree in Animal and Dairy Science in 1991. She then moved on to earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996.
Dr. Cartee is the mother of five children, with the two oldest Erin Wingard and Laura Upchurch still living in Alabama with their husbands; Trey and Michael, respectively. Laura and Michael had their first child in January, Miss Kaelynn Harper Upchurch. Dr. Cartee's three youngest children Douglas, Ryann, and Britton attend school in the Cochranton School District.
Dr. Cartee does have several four-legged family members: Abby, the Great Pyrenees; Nutmeg, the Dachshund; Gemini, the retired racing Greyhound; two cats, Sprinkles and Lynx; and one painted horse who belongs to her daughter Ryann named Grace.
Dr. Cartee enjoys gardening and listening to music in her spare time. She is primarily a small animal veterinarian with interests in soft-tissue surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine.
