We will now be using the latest technology in soft tissue surgery! This new technology
is called a "Radio Knife" it uses high frequency radio waves to make incisions.
Radiowave surgery has been shown to be an improved modality in soft tissue surgery.
There are many advantages to using the Radio Knife such as:
1) Better and faster healing time than using scalpels and lasers.
a) Lasers use heat which can damage tissue- the Radio Knife
uses minimal heat and can gently cut and coagulate tissue
at low temperatures.
b) Scalpels use pressure to cut tissue which can cause more
trauma to the surrounding tissue of the incision- the Radio Knife
creates a "pressure less incision" causing minimal trauma which
in turn allows the incision to heal faster.
2) Minimalizing damage to the surrounding tissue of an incision promotes
less post-surgical pain, less swelling and edema, and significantly lowers
the risk of a hematoma and/or infection at the
3) The Radio Knife also increases the safety of the procedure for your pet, the
surgeon, and the staff monitoring your pet under anesthesia.
